Field boundary mapping can provide useful information and may determine differences in acreage that you are unaware of. A good example is the acres insured with crop insurance. By accurately determining the productive acres of a field, you may find that you are over or under insuring that field. For hilly or rolling land, AccuFarm recommends that an elevation log of the entire field be performed for surface area analysis. This will account for acre increases due to differences in elevation across the field.
